  1. I'm going to focus on the events surrounding the Chilean poet and how those events affected the themes of his poems.

  2. That was ridiculously fast signing up, so I suppose I'll do poetry.

  4. I thought I had posted, but it seems to have not gone through/is being filtered. Gotta repost to be safe.

Shu Ting's background and ties to Communism, or something background related.*

    *subject to change.

  5. I said it above, but I'm going to say it again. I'm going to focus on Neruda's poems and how the events surrounding him (his life) caused a change in the themes of his poems.

  6. I am drawing blanks as far as a specific topic, I am hoping to look at Neruda, possibly his connection to Latin literature and poetry of the time. But I am really unsure and open to change.

  7. Okay, I'll look at Shu Ting's poems but I don't know exactly what I'll do with them yet besides look at a specific element and how it relates to her.

  8. Im not sure if this mixes in with an already claimed topic because everyone is being so vague with their dibs.

id like to do a commentary on a couple of her poems and relate that to how she responds to chinas development under communism.

  9. I am going to focus on the translation of Neruda and other language stuff, like connotation. And maybe his imagery, why he uses so much and how it affects his writing. Davis, is that to close to yours?

  10. I'm refining my topic. I'm going to focus on one Neruda poem and what events influenced him to write that poem. I'm going to focus on his emotions that went into the poem and why he had those emotions. Then I'm going to talk about how the poem influences and manipulates the reader's emotions.

  11. I'm going to focus on how the Spanish Civil War affected Nerudas's poetry.
